- The Concert Band rehearses on Thursday mornings from 7.45 am – 8.50 am.
Tuition occurs at lunchtime - instruments are grouped together in either the first or second half of lunch . The aim is to group students, based on similar experience and ability.
The instruments available are:
- Clarinet
- Bass Clarinet
- Saxophone Tenor and Alto
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Euphonium
- Flute
- Drums and other percussion
- Tuba Baritone
- Oboe, positions are available to those who have their own music lessons and own instrument.
Band rehearsal and group lessons incur a fee of $170 per term.
COST
There is an instrument hire and service fee of $280 a year .
At the beginning of term 4, children in Year 2 are given the opportunity to try the various instruments and given direction about the instrument to which they are most suited. Children in older age groups make a private arrangement with Mrs Cherlin to talk about the availability of instruments.
The Excelsior Band Committee are a group of volunteers who work with Mrs Cherlin to run the Band Program. This committee also comes under the umbrella of the P&C. Professional conductors and specialists who tutor specific instruments are contracted for their services and we are so lucky to have their expertise at Excelsior! This makes the band program very worthwhile and increasingly popular.
